This chocolate chip cookie recipe is one of my favorites. I’ve experimented and concluded that this level of sweetness is what I enjoy the most, but feel free to add more sugar if you want it to be sweeter (my sweet tolerance is pretty low, hahaha). Another thing I like about this recipe is that it doesn’t require fancy tools. A mixing bowl and a spatula will do the job (no hand mixer needed). Let’s get started
Ingredients
- butter 1/2 cup (114 g.)
- brown sugar 1/3 cup
- sugar 1/3 cup
- 1 whole egg
- vanilla extract 1 tsp.
- all-purpose flour 1 + 1/2 cup
- baking soda 1 tsp.
- salt 1/2 tsp (no need if you use salted butter)
- chocolate chips 1 cup
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Prepare the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt) by sifting them together.
- Melt the butter in a pan until brown and put it in a mixing bowl. If you’re lazy, just put it in the microwave, but you will miss the color and intense butter smell.
- Add both types of sugar to the butter and stir thoroughly.
- Add the egg and vanilla, and mix well.
- Add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet mix, then mix just until you can no longer see the white flour. (Don’t overmix.)
- Add the chocolate chips and mix them in.
- Scoop the dough and place it on the baking tray. Leave space between each scoop because they will spread in the heat.
- Bake for 8-12 minutes.
