This chocolate chip cookie recipe is one of my favorites. I’ve experimented and concluded that this level of sweetness is what I enjoy the most, but feel free to add more sugar if you want it to be sweeter (my sweet tolerance is pretty low, hahaha). Another thing I like about this recipe is that it doesn’t require fancy tools. A mixing bowl and a spatula will do the job (no hand mixer needed). Let’s get started

Ingredients

  1. butter 1/2 cup (114 g.)
  2. brown sugar 1/3 cup
  3. sugar 1/3 cup
  4. 1 whole egg
  5. vanilla extract 1 tsp.
  6. all-purpose flour 1 + 1/2 cup
  7. baking soda 1 tsp.
  8. salt 1/2 tsp (no need if you use salted butter)
  9. chocolate chips 1 cup

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Prepare the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt) by sifting them together.
  3. Melt the butter in a pan until brown and put it in a mixing bowl. If you’re lazy, just put it in the microwave, but you will miss the color and intense butter smell.
  4. Add both types of sugar to the butter and stir thoroughly.
  5. Add the egg and vanilla, and mix well.
  6. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet mix, then mix just until you can no longer see the white flour. (Don’t overmix.)
  7. Add the chocolate chips and mix them in.
  8. Scoop the dough and place it on the baking tray. Leave space between each scoop because they will spread in the heat.
  9. Bake for 8-12 minutes.
